Bangor's Paving Schedule And What Drivers Need To Know

Municipalities across Maine are taking advantage of good weather and snow-free streets, performing much-needed repairs to bridges and roadways.

According to the City of Bangor's website, a number of paving projects across the Queen City will resume next week, starting on August 10th. They're asking residents and drivers to be aware of the work zones and informed about the parking bans.

"Crews will return to the following areas to lay down a final surface and perform other work: Joans Hill Road, Reinzo Lane, Thomas Hill Road, Webster Avenue, West Street, and Silver Street.

Be mindful of parking restrictions that will be in place, and for the sake of worker safety, please drive slowly if traveling through these neighborhoods. "

The tentative paving schedule for the city of Bangor is posted on their website under the Department of Pubic Works "Paving" projects.

There's a lot that goes into deciding which roads need attention each season. The paving program itself is also a very detailed and thought-out plan, involving multiple city departments and utility partners.

Of course, once a road has been paved, it's usually painted with lane lines, which is also impacts traffic and parking in the city.

Earlier this year, city officials sent out a plea for motorists to stop driving through the fresh road paint, as that became an issue in spots all across Bangor.

Another initiative happening simultaneously to the paving and painting projects involves the launching of half-a-dozen robots throughout the city, in an attempt to map crosswalks, sidewalks, and other areas pedestrians might use to get around, in order to improve the city's ADA compliance level.
