Our boys and girls in blue will be shivering outside the doors of Walmart for a good cause.

Brighten up a kid's holiday this year by donating either a toy or cash this Friday, December 6th, between 10 a.m. and 2 pm.  You'll find officers from the Bangor Police Department standing next to a big truck by the doors of Walmart on Stillwater Avenue.

Everything that they collect will be passed along to the Bangor area Salvation Army, who will then distribute the items and holiday assistance to families in Bangor, Brewer, Orrington, Veazie, Hermon, Kenduskeag, Levant, Exeter, and Glenburn.

According to a recent posting on the Bangor Maine Police Department's Facebook page, area families have submitted applications for help with the holidays, and this Friday it is the officer's mission to fulfill those requests.
