Bangor Overnight Road Closures For Broadway Bridge Work

Just to keep us on our toes, motorists in Bangor can expect closures to one specific area of roadway for the next couple of nights.

The Maine DOT and the City of Bangor is letting everyone know that portions of Broadway will be closed overnight on Wednesday and Thursday evening, as the I-95 Broadway Bridge Replacement project continues.

The City of Bangor is asking folks to plan accordingly.

"The portion of Broadway near I-95 will be closed from 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 10, to 6 a.m. Thursday, June 11. It will close again from 8 p.m. Thursday, June 11, to 6 a.m. Friday, June 12. Workers will be installing structural steel beams for the southbound portion of the bridge."

Officials with the City say there will be signs in place that will indicated a detour around the area, and as such, drivers should be prepared to take a different route.

The aim of the project is to realign the southbound on and off ramps, and the enhance the intersections of Broadway and Alden, and Broadway, Earl Avenue and Central Streets.

The Maine Department of Transportation says the closures are necessary inconvenience to make sure work can be done safely and much-needed improvements made to the area.

"Please note that there will be times during construction when detours of Broadway and I-95 will be necessary, especially during bridge demolition and the setting of new bridge beams

They also passed along their appreciation to residents and motorists for their patience during this project.
