According to the BDN, Bangor schools will move to a pass/fail grading model as they navigate how the corinavirus has disrupted just about everything in day to day life. At this time, Bangor schools are tentatively set to return by May, but are quite likely to not return at all for the rest of the year.

Since there's no previous plan in place to deal with this kind of situation that the COVID-19 pandemic has brought, moving forward students will be graded as “Pass with Distinction,” “Pass,” “Fail,” and “Incomplete.” elementary school students will be graded similarly, but adding “Developing,” “Not Applicable” and “Incomplete.”

As far as student's grade point averages, these pass/fail grades will have no impact on a student's GPA, but will count towards credits they need to either graduate, or move onto the next grade level. This same idea is also happening at the college level as well. Pass with credit, but no impact on GPA.

Speaking for myself, teaching rock classes remotely via the internet is a challenge, but the kids are quite resilient and seem to be rolling with it. But really, let's just keep our fingers crossed that this all ends soon, and life can back to some version of normal. Until then, we'll all just continue to innovate, and move on.
