Bangor Water District's Boil Order, What Neighborhoods Are Affected

A boil order has been issued for a huge chunk of the city of Bangor after a water main broke earlier in the day, causing problems.

Earlier in the day on Wednesday, July 15th, the Bangor Water District alerted customers that there had been a water main break along Griffin Road, in the area of the entrance to Husson University. Crews were immediately sent to that area to fix the issue.

Later in the evening, word came down through their social media page that a boil order would be in effect until further notice.

"Due to the main break we experienced earlier today, we are issuing a boil water notice to a large area of customers... We are currently going door to door posting notices. Addresses affected are 579-1476 Broadway and 758-1004 Essex."

But the boil notice doesn't stop there.

Officials say it also pertains to every residence and business named along 30 other streets and neighborhoods.

Those affected include the Holiday Trailer Park, Birch Hill Estates, Cortland Orchard Hills, Edgewood Court, Whispering Drive, Milton Place, the area of Bangor High School, and Darling Park. Folks who live on Grandview, Burleigh Rd., Silos, Briarwood, Benjamin, Greenfield, Labarc, Jasmine, Peruvian Way, Woodland Drive, Balsam, Packard, Heather, Baldwin, Lasalle, Hillview, and Hillside, Shady, Judson Blvd. and Fenton should also boil their water. Homes and businesses in the area of the Bomarc Road are also impacted by this.

Some business did choose to open on Thursday. Governor's Restaurant on Broadway stated that while they were open for business, they were taking precautions.

"We're using single-use tableware and cups, bottled water for cooking, and antimicrobial soap per the Department of Health guidelines. Unfortunately, we are unable to serve fountain soda until the water lines are flushed and we're given the ok by the Bangor Water District."
