At 10:15 A.M. this Wednesday morning, the Sector Northern New England of the U.S. Coast Guard received three garbled "mayday" transmissions from a man that is believed to have fallen out of his kayak and into the ocean.

It is believed that the man went overboard somewhere in the vicinity of Bois Bubert Island off the coast of the Stueben/Milbridge area.

Along with the Canadian Airforce and crews from the Maine Marine Patrol, the Coast Guard in Jonesport launched a 47-foot Motor Lifeboat crew and Station Southwest Harbor launched a 29-foot response boat crew to search the area. A MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter aircrew also launched from Air Station Cape Cod.  The crews are currently searching a 275 square mile area.

LISTEN to the mayday audio in the video above, and if you have any information about the voice heard or had seen anything worthwhile this morning in the areas mentioned, then the Coast Guard asks that you call Ken Stuart at Sector Northern New England at 207-741-5422.
