The Beatles donned their white shies, coats and tails on this date in rock history!

Filming for the movie Magical Mystery Tour continued on this date in 1967 at the West Malling Air Station, in Kent England.  While Your Mother Should Know played all four members did their best to walk and sway in unison while 160 members of a dance team whirled and twirled about.  In the video you'll notice another "Paul is dead" clue, as McCartney is the only one wearing a black rose.

On this date in 1969 the whole "Paul is dead" thing had exploded.  A group of American college students had published articles claiming that Paul McCartney had died in a car accident in 1966, and that an impostor had been standing in ever since. The story was splattered on the front pages of newspapers everywhere.  The Beatles had gone to great lengths to pull off the sham, producing clues like McCartney being the only Beatle going barefoot on the cover of Abby Road with a license plate on a Volkswagen Beetle in the background that said "28IF,"  the age that he would have been at that point.  As we know, Sir Paul is alive and well, if that really is him.

On this date in 1984, Culture Club had another #1 with Karma Chameleon.  It was the biggest selling song of the year.  Yeah, the eighties were a very confused decade.  Wanna listen to Boy George sing now?  We didn't think so.

Bobby McFerrin hit #1 with Don't Worry, Be Happy today in 1988.  The very next day he would be tarred and feathered in the street, and then banished to a lifetime of hell by singing the song for the remainder of his career.

In 1991, Nirvana released the Nevermind album. It was the band's second album and sold over 10 million copies.  It featured Smells Like Teen Spirit and Come As You Air, two HUGE album hits, it also featured a submerged naked baby with a hangin' penis on the cover.

The lovely Linda Eastman, the future Mrs. Paul McCartney was born on this date in 1942.  Linda would succumb to breast cancer in 1998.  During life, not only did she play keyboards in Wings, but was an avid photographer, animal rights advocate and vegetarian.
