An individual associated with the Ellsworth Elementary-Middle School tested positive for COVID-19. The individual was last in school on Friday, November 6th. Consequently 11 staff members and 40 students who attend Ellsworth Elementary Middle School will be in quarantine.

In a letter sent to Ellsworth School District Staff, Parents and Students by Dan Higgins, the Superintendent of Schools on Tuesday, November 10th, Higgins said

"Out of an abundance of caution and to permit additional cleaning in the rooms and areas of the school where the infected individual was present, Thursday, November 12th and Friday, November 13th will be "remote learning days" for all students at Ellsworth Elementary Middle School. As further contact tracing may result in close contacts being identified at our other schools, Thursday and Friday will also be "remote learning days" for all students and staff at Ellsworth High School, Hancock County Technical Center and for the Ellsworth Adult Education program. Our staff will continue with tracing efforts"

Students and staff members who are in quarantine will be contacted directly by school personnel and CDC contact tracers. Close contacts will be directed to quarantine for 14 days from the last exposure to the individual who tested positive. A negative test does NOT eliminate the quarantine requirement.
