Flick Chick here once again in the pursuit of truth, justice and keeping you from spending your hard earned money on movies that don’t make the grade! Last night I grabbed my French translation guide and headed into the Bangor Mall Cinemas to see ‘The Walk’

This is an adventure, biography, drama that runs 2 hours. The film is rated PG for thematic elements involving perilous situations, and for some nudity, language, brief drug references and smoking. ‘The Walk’ stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Ben Kingsley, Charlotte Le Bon, James Badge Dale, Ben Schwartz

Summary:

This is the story of high-wire artist Philippe Petit. Enamored with the high wire from an early age Phillippe is always looking for a place that calls for him to set up his wire. On day he runs across a story of the twin towers being built in New York and his dream is set. Unfortunately, it is also quite illegal but that is no deterrent to Phillippe who recruits a group of French and American accomplices to help him realize his dream and make history for himself and the towers.

Review:

A biopic is a new venture for Robert Zemekis and he goes for a sort of artsy styling for this film. I.E. in the beginning the scenes are black and white with just a splash of color here and there. Also , because it is based in actual events the beginning takes its time building the story. However once the “Carrots were cooked” as they love to say the story was very engaging and you will root for Phillippe to have his dream. On a side note if you are like me and at 14 years old did not really pay attention to what was in the news you’ll find the end very suspenseful. This movie is also and obvious love letter to the twin towers.  On a scale of 1 – 10, I am giving ‘The Walk’ a 8.
