"On March 31, 2026, the Brunswick Police Department, in coordination with the United States Marshal's Service and the Maine Violent Offender Task Force, arrested 37-year-old Roosevelt Boone on a Class A felony warrant of Gross Sexual Assault under Maine law...The arrest follows an extensive investigation into an incident that occurred in 2024. Mr. Boone is currently being held at the Manatee County Jail in Florida as a Fugitive from Justice, pending further legal proceedings."
Authorities say Boone was apprehended at IMG Academy, a golf course in Bradenton, Florida.

Boone, who is originally from Washington, D.C., spent time as a Black Bear football player from 2007 to 2011, and was named a Maine Scholar-Athlete Rising Star, according to the University.
A recent RU Strong Podcast on YouTube, uploaded this week, even celebrated his accomplishments both on and off the field.
When he finished with the University of Maine, Boone went on to coach at Rutgers University before returning to Maine to work at Bowdoin College in Brunswick.
An article from The Bowdoin Orient dated November 2022 states that Boone had been working as an Assistant Dean at the College with the Class of 2023, and was attempting to "widen the scope of students that interact with the Dean’s Office."
"Assistant Class Dean Roosevelt Boone spearheaded this initiative in the hopes of making the Office of the Dean of Students more accessible and approachable to the student body, specifically as students’ needs change throughout the year."
The Brunswick Police Department is urging anyone who might have information "related to Mr. Boone or potential sexual assault offenses" to reach out to Det. Kittredge at the PD by calling (207) 731-4312.
In Maine, a Class A Gross Sexual Assault is listed as a sexual crime typically involving violent sexual acts, victims under age 14, or specific aggravated circumstances.
If found guilty of such crimes, one could be incarcerated for up to 30 years and face having to pay fines of tens of thousands of dollars. A conviction of such a crime would typically also carry a mandatory listing on the Sex Offender registry.
And if a victim was under 18 at the time of the offense, there is no Statute of limitations on prosecuting those crimes.
