‘Green Tea’ Restaurant To Operate Out Of Old Arby’s Once Renovated
This past June, we told you of the sale of the old Bangor Arby's building that has stood vacant at 57 Bangor Mall Blvd. since it closed in 2015.
It had operated as a sandwich shop for 32 years, prior to that.
Z&S REALTY ESTATE INC, based in Veazie, purchased the property this summer for $762,000. The buyers also own Green Tea Restaurant, currently located at 11 Bangor Mall Blvd, right down the road from the Arby's building.
The new location would offer customers the option of dining in or grabbing takeout. Bangor's Division Director/ Code Enforcement Officer, Jeff Wallace, says he's fairly sure that the new owners planned to keep the old drive-thru window that Arby's as a place where patrons can pick up the orders they have called in. Currently, a handful of other restaurants like Moe's have made successful use of such an option.
Wallace says the plan, according to the new owners, is to move Green Tea's operation over to the old Arby's building once some renovations to the building have been completed. There's been talk of perhaps adding some additional seating, although nothing has been formalized with the City's Planning Board.
No word yet on what the timeline for the renovations or the move might be, but we look forward to seeing some life back in that spot on the boulevard.
