After spending an entire week home with my 4 kids over February break, there's nothing more I want to do right now than clean and purge my house!

If you're in the same boat, and you're trying to figure out where to bring those things that aren't garbage, and still have a bit of life in them, but just don't fit in your place anymore, consider donating them to an organization that doesn't just find new homes for old things, but also helps build new homes for families that need them.

The Habitat for Humanity of Greater Bangor is a non-profit organization working to help build affordable housing in the greater Bangor area. According to their website:
"Habitat for Humanity of Greater Bangor has worked in partnership with volunteers and low-income families since 1989 to build 21 simple, decent houses in the local community. Habitat's affordable house payments free up money for food, child care, medicine, and other necessities.

It just so happens, that one of the ways they raise money to build these homes is by collecting things that you no longer want in yours, and reselling them at their Habitat For Humanity ReStore.

Habitat For Humanity of the Greater Bangor Area has a program called "Cars For Homes". It's a vehicle donation program. The idea behind it is pretty simple:

1.) You donate the vehicle. (You must have the title to it, in order to make a donation.)

"We accept almost all vehicles, including cars, trucks, motorcycles, recreational vehicles, boats, snowmobiles, farm equipment, and construction equipment."

If you're curious if the program would accept your vehicle, you can always run it through their "donation wizard" to see if it passes muster.

The Cars for Homes program launched in 2005 and has taken in over 160,000 vehicles and in just the last 5 years, they have raised of $72 Million for the Habitat for Humanity organization nationwide.
