Heads Up For Those Driving Through Hampden Wednesday: You May Want To Go Around
It's no secret that weather conditions tend to wreak havoc on Maine roads throughout the year, even and especially during the winter it seems.
Damage from the elements, the salt, sand and plows all take their toll on the tar to the point that good chunks of it can wear away, leaving wheel or even car-consuming craters in their wake.

There are some of those in Hampden at the moment, and the folks there are going to try to fix a few of the worst ones up, this coming Wednesday between the hours of 9 AM and 2 PM.
According to officials at the Hampden Town Office, the section of road that will be closed to traffic will be the northbound lane of Route 202, between the areas of Western Avenue and the Coldbrook Road. The work they're doing there will be specifically to the crossover lanes along that road.

"This is expected to be a single day closure. There will be a signed detour directing traffic to where they need to go to bypass this route. Please seek alternate routes during this closure if possible. Thank you for your patience."
While they recognize that might create a bit of a backup to traffic in the middle of the week, it needs to be done and they're hoping it will be worth the hassell.
