Here Is The Date To Expect Bangor's First Snowfall

Not that most of us are in any hurry at all to break out the snowblower.

We know what eventually awaits us around the corner. We've all seen and experienced it before. Those messy and very dangerous commutes, back-breaking shoveling first thing in the morning, and those high heating bills that most of us experience. Yes, Old Man Winter is out there, he's lurking and smiling down upon us with high anticipation to "unleash" his fury over the Pine Tree State, once again.

He's already made stops across the midwest section of the country this year, as it's snowed in places like Colorado and Wyoming. He doesn't need to look at a map or set the GPS as he has been here many times before. He knows the way to Bangor by heart.

But when will he get here? Old Man Winter must have set an arrival date. He must have made a reservation. But as usual, he's not telling. So, we'll do the dirty work for him and announce his expected arrival.

Looking at records of past years provided by the National Weather Service in Caribou we see that the first "measurable" snowfall has been recorded at the Bangor International Airport on the following dates:

So after looking closely at the data, the date that you'll officially see white in Bangor is, well, anyone's guess, we guess. But, we're pretty sure that it's gonna happen.

And if you're wondering when snowfall will "peak" this winter, according to WeatherSpark.com, that would be January 9th, when the average daily snowfall for that day is 1.4 inches.
