He ain't nothing but a hound dog, and he's darn proud of it!

Meet Stark, our SPCA of Hancock County Pet of the Week!

Stark is a gorgeous and speckled redtick coonhound/staffordshire terrier mix, who is  just shy of two years old. He’s a pretty energetic boy who loves most kinds of toys, the outdoors, and SNOW!

Stark was surrendered to the SPCA for being too rough with a young child, but the staff there thinks that he just needs some more training, because he just doesn’t quite know how big or strong he is. Because of this, they recommend that he go to a home with slightly older kids who are about 8 years old and up.

Stark is young and still needs to be neutered which might account for his extra energy, but he’s housebroken and knows “sit”. Stark seems to like other dogs, but we do not recommend that he go to a home with cats or small animals. He’s okay with being crated and has been doing well in his kennel at the SPCA.

Even though he’s a hound dog, he hasn’t been overly loud or vocal (at least not yet)! Everyone thinks that Stark is an adorable, playful boy who’d be great in a home as an only dog or as a sibling to another dog. Once he’s neutered on 1/18 he can run on home to you!

We're hoping that you or someone that you know may be interested in Stark. Schedule an appointment to meet him in person!

As a reminder, the SPCA of Hancock County is still operating by appointment-only for the safety of the animals, as well as visitors and staff. If you are looking to adopt, please check their website where they have an adoption application and the available animals listed. For general inquiries, please call them at 207-667-8088, email info@spcahancockcounty.org, or send them a Facebook message.
