I-95 Drive Home Mystery Artist [VIDEO]

Tonight’s mystery artist as  a child on a 9 day trip on a boat to America  first learned the perks of being a performer, playing piano during intermission one day and eating at the captain’s table he next.  Can you guess who he is or the band he fronts for??

This little piece of information comes from an interview between Smithsonian National Museum of American History and Eddie Van Halen.  After the war Eddie’s mother and father had been living in Holland  and decided the area was too depressed. Seeking a better life for their family his parents booked passage to America on a boat where they paid for their passage by his father playing with the on board band. Eddie tells how his father had he and Alex play the piano during the band’s intermission and the entertainment bug bit him hard. And boy are we ever glad it did.
