It Seems Folks In Bangor Just Can’t Stop Hitting This Store’s Retaining Wall
I've lived nearby this one store in Bangor since I bought my house in 2009.
I've seen it change its name, its sign, and its hours; but something that has stayed the same through all these years is the fact that people just can't seem to avoid hitting the retaining wall that separates the parking lot from the sidewalk in front of it.
I would say that, on average, I stop by the Walgreens on Union St. at least 3 or 4 times a week. As such, I'm pretty familiar with the little parking lot, and spaces.
It seems like every time someone hits the wall, and Walgreens Management finally gets a crew to come to repair it, someone else comes along a week later and runs into it again.
Over the winter, as is the case at least once or twice a year, someone hit part of the retaining wall that runs in front of the store...
That particular crash made the wall bow outward a bit. It's been like that for quite some time.
Last week, I pulled into the parking lot only to see that someone else had hit the same wall, in a different spot, and knocked another section loose!
I shook my head. In order to knock the paving bricks loose to this extent, the operator of this vehicle must have really made their moves (either backing into it or driving into it) with quite some force.
I mean, these bricks came off the bars that were holding them together!
Now there are two sections of the wall that are jacked up.
I feel like we might need some sort of bumper, like in kiddie bowling, for folks who just don't know how to park!
Or perhaps Walgreens needs to put an informational sign out in the parking lot, explaining to folks what not to do? Maybe we could all just slow down and take a minute to pay attention to what we're doing? Because this has really gotten to be ridiculous!
