Body Found in Maine Appears to Be Missing Virginia Woman

Maine State Police are investigating the discovery of a body in Dayton that appears to be a missing Virginia woman.

The 23-Year-Old is Missing from Newport News

Autumn Cleveland, 23, was reported missing in Newport News, Virginia.

Police Say the Deceased Was in a Parked Car

Just before 3:30 Monday afternoon, a 911 caller reported that a deceased female had been found inside a vehicle. Maine State Police responded to the vehicle that was parked near the Goodwins Mills Road in Dayton, Maine.

Maine Department of Public Safety spokesperson Shannon Moss says the deceased matched the description of Ms. Cleveland.

So Far, Officials Have Not Determined How She Died

The death remains under investigation by the Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit and an autopsy will be conducted to determine the woman's cause and manner of death. Officials say there is no danger to the public.
