It was in October 2022 when Brougham walked into the Armory Street branch of Camden National Bank in Augusta at approximately 11:30 on a Saturday morning. He was wearing a brimmed hat and a standard hospital mask over his face when he had a brief conversation with the bank teller, while holding a newspaper. Brougham placed the newspaper on the counter, pulled out a silver handgun, and placed the gun on the counter, in the direction of the teller. He then instructed the teller to give him all the money in the drawer. After the teller placed the money on the counter, Brougham folded up the paper with the money inside and then fled to a nearby parking lot, where he left the scene in a gold-colored GMC Yukon.

He Still Had the Hat When Police Caught Up To Him

Four days after the robbery, Augusta Police investigators found a vehicle matching the one from the robbery surveillance footage. They arrested Brougham as he walked out of a convenience store. A search of the Yukon revealed a handgun magazine loaded with seven .380 caliber bullets, as well as an unloaded silver Walther PPK/S .380 caliber pistol wedged in the backseat of the vehicle. The handgun matched the description of the firearm used during the robbery. As part of their investigation, law enforcement also seized a brimmed hat that matched the one worn during the robbery.

Brougham Faces Up to 25 Years in Prison

According to the United States Attorney's Office, District of Maine, Brougham faces a maximum of 25 years in prison and up to a $250,000 fine, followed by up to five years of supervised release. He will be sentenced at a later date.
