A Maine man who was out on bail for arson is now accused of setting off an explosion in a vehicle.

Topsham Man Arrested for Swanville Explosion Was Out on Bail for Arson

Patrick Kane, 20, of Topsham is facing new charges of arson and violating conditions of release after an incident Sunday in Swanville. When he was arrested, Kane was out on bail for a separate arson charge.

State Fire Marshal's Office Says the Explosion Happened in a Parked Pickup Truck

Maine Department of Public Safety spokesperson Shannon Moss says State Police and the State Fire Marshal's Office are investigating an explosion at 7:30 Sunday night. No information about the explosion has been released, except that it happened in the back of a pickup truck parked at 1475 Swan Lake Avenue in Swanville.

Kane Was Out On Bail for an Arson Investigation From 2024

The initial investigation led investigators to Kane who was charged with arson and violating conditions of release. Officials have not commented on a motive for the incident. Kane was out on bail for a separate arson charge from early 2024 that the State Fire Marshal's Office is also investigating. He was taken into custody and transported to the Waldo County Jail, where he was denied bail.

This incident remains under investigation.
