
Maine Fire Marshal Identifies 2 Victims of Portland Apartment Fire
Offcials have identified two people who died in a Portland apartment house fire.
Portland, Maine Apartment House Fire Victims Identified
Maine's Fire Marshal has identified the victims as:
- Nicole Niehoff 45, of Portland.
- Jake Millet, 40, of Portland.
They were both in the same apartment of a four-unit complex that burned on September 21, 2025.
Portland, Maine Double Fatal Apartment House Fire
The fire at 43 St. Lawrence Street in Portland was reported at approximately 2:17 in the morning. All of the apartments were occupied when the fire broke out, and everyone was able to get out except the two victims.
Maine State Fire Marshal Determines Cause of Double Fatal Portland Fire
An investigation by the State Fire Marshal's Office determined the fire was accidental in nature. Investigators concluded the fire originated on the second floor back deck leading to the apartment where Niehoff and Millett were located.
Investigators say they cannot rule out the careless disposal of smoking materials as a possible cause of the fire.
