Wanted Man Tries To Flee The Cops, Ends Up Crashing In Alton
It was just after 2 p.m. Thursday when a Penobscot County Sheriff's Officer witnessed a red sedan driving erratically along Bennoch Road in Alton, so he started to run the vehicle information.
When the officer got the driver's info back, he realized the man was wanted on a couple of serious charges. At that same time, the driver started to speed away from the sheriff's car.
At that point, the Sheriff turned on his lights and sirens, but the driver did not stop and tried to flee.
Another Sheriff's Deputy arrived in the area and put out some spike mats, which the car drove over. Then the red car turned toward the deputy.
That's when the Penobscot County Sheriff's Office says things went very wrong for the driver, and subsequently his passenger.
"The operator lost control, leaving the roadway, then struck a utility pole. The pole broke and the sedan rolled over."
