Traffic Stop In Eddington Leads To Fentanyl Bust Sheriff’s Say
A recent routine traffic detail along Route 9 between Eddington and Clifton helped get a large quantity of dangerous drugs off of Maine streets, according to the Penobscot County Sheriff's Office.
Penobscot County Sheriff Deputies stopped a vehicle in that area, just before 9 PM, Wednesday, April 3rd. That's when they say they found the drugs.
"During the stop and interaction, the deputy determined a passenger in the vehicle was out of jail with 5 sets of separate bail conditions. The deputy also established probable cause to search the vehicle based on multiple factors learned during the traffic stop. The search confirmed there was a gross gram weight of 60 grams of fentanyl in the vehicle."
A good number of recent drug seizures in the state have come by way of routine traffic stops, authorities say. The Sheriff's Office stated that stops like the ones that took place that Wednesday night are an important method by which members of law enforcement throughout the state are able rid the area of these illegal and dangerous drugs.
They say the incident remains under investigation. They have not released any names in connection with the stop and seizure yet.
Earlier this week, authorities busted an illegal Chinese pot-growing operation in the same area.
