What Are You Looking Forward To When Winter Ends In Maine?

This is easily the most depressing time of the year in Maine. That period of time between Janueay and February, where things can be a little bleak. otherwise known as the dead of winter.

As we sit and await not one, but two potential snow storms over the next few days, now seems like a perfect time to ask this question:

"What are you looking forward to about winter ending?"

Lots of people on Maine Reddit recently weighed in on this topic, and came up with some great answers.

To get the ball rolling, I will start! I can’t wait to stop hearing having to listen to my faucets dripping so my pipes don’t freeze.

I am looking forward to camping, bike rides, planting in the garden, cocktails on the deck, and not filling the oil tank every three weeks.

The end of people bitching about winter weather. Unfortunately most of them will immediately commence bitching about black flies and ticks (a much more justified class of complaint).

North woods camping to get as far away from people as possible! Freedom in the woods with my dogs!

Being able to just..let my boys outside without getting 17 layers on. Only for them to say I'm cold in 5 minutes and want to go back inside

Not paying for heat.

Gardening, birds chirping, the smell of dirt thawing out….seeing all the dog poop that the snow covered up…..wait no.

Sweaty walks on the beach and in the woods and by the river and swimming and sweating drinking beer on my deck.

GingerbreadDisco

Leaving work and having it not be dark outside. Also going for walks without worrying about ice.
