Amazon is Finally Building a Warehouse in Maine
Ordering items on Amazon has become second nature for so many people throughout Maine. Why bother venturing to a brick-and-mortar store when you can simply shop and have it delivered to your door by Amazon.
The convenience of Amazon has been fraying over the past few years in Maine. Specifically, the rural parts of the state. Long gone is the promise of 1 or 2 day delivery and in its place has been longer or disrupted delivery times.
Frustrated customers may get a reprieve soon. Amazon is building their first warehouse in Maine and it may not be the last.
Amazon is Completing Construction of a Warehouse in Caribou, Maine
According to The County, Amazon is nearly finished construction on what they are calling a "small delivery station" in Caribou that will help facilitate faster deliveries for northern and eastern Maine.
Those rural areas of the state have been hit harder by delivery delays which Amazon hopes this new delivery station will help absolve.
Amazon had been searching for a warehouse site for months and settled on Caribou after the city agreed to help with the project. The warehouse is expected to open soon.
Will There Be More Amazon Warehouses Coming to Maine?
While nothing is confirmed, it seems like the Caribou delivery station will be the first of a few in Maine.
In April, Amazon announced a multi-billion dollar investment in building rural delivery stations to enhance delivery capabilities. Downeast and western Maine seem like prime places to get their own Amazon delivery station in the not-too-distant future.
