A young woman from Portland is gaining national attention for attaching warm jackets to light posts, offering them to the needy. The story's been picked up by news outlets as far away as England.

Gabby Kaper says she wanted to do something to give back to the community. So she bought five warm winter jackets at Goodwill for $1 each, and then wrapped them around light posts in the Portland area. Each jacket sports a sign:

"I am not lost! Please take me if you need me."

Kaper told 'The Today Show' that she saw one man walk over to the jackets and then signal to his friend. They told her they're sleeping outside right now and the warm coats were greatly appreciated.

Now, the gesture is gaining national attention, from national news outlets like ABC, NBC's the Today Show, and even Britain's newspaper, 'The Daily Mail.' Kaper says five dollars doesn't mean that much to her, but those five coats could make a big difference to those who are going without.

Nice job, Gabby! Here's hoping your idea catches on across the country!
