Jordan’s Snack Bar In Ellsworth Announces Opening Date
It's time to belly up to a crab roll.
To the delight of many downeast and beyond, the owners of the now iconic Jordan's Snack Bar on Route 1 in Ellsworth have announce an opening date. Sort of.
A posting to Facebook this past Monday tells us that Jordan's "Will be open for Mother's Day. More information to follow in a few days."
Sounds like mom's gonna get her favorite haddock sandwich after all.
To say the least, long time seafood, burger and ice cream lovers have been anticipating the opening of Jordan's Snack Bar for weeks now, and questions arise during what now seems to be the slow demise of the long and tedious nasty COVID-19 pandemic. Will the outdoor playground and arcade be open this year? How about the indoor dining area? Will the ever once growing in popularity Wednesday night Cruise-Ins happen again this year?
Will Jordan's retain their popular and very convenient drive-thru that they had last year?
Regardless of all of that, it's comforting to know that one's favorite take-out stand will soon be open for the summer season, and that the familiar long lines that form at the windows will be seen shortly when one drives by on Route 1, or the Downeast Highway as some like to call it.
There will be a bit of emptiness that regulars will feel though, and that is the loss of George Luce who recently passed away. Mr. Luce was a friendly guy whom everyone enjoyed seeing and interacting with during their visit to Jordan's.
But soon the double burger basket with onion rings will be back, and that makes summer just a little bit closer to us all.
