Keep An Eye Out For Cyclists And Celebrities In The Bangor Area This Weekend
Bangor is bracing as hundreds of cyclists get ready to take part in the first-ever Gran Fondo Hincapie Series, a race that starts right on the Bangor Waterfront.
The ride will take folks all across roads in both Penobscot and Hancock Counties.

"Cyclists can choose from three different routes of 80, 52, or 15 miles and there is a post-event Hincapie Family Fun Fest on the Bangor Waterfront!
In attendance at Saturday's race will be some celebrities and heavy hitters from the cycling world.
3-time US National Champion and 5-time Olympian in road cycling, George Hincapie, for whom the event is named, will be in Bangor.
American professional cyclist, Bobby Julich, who was the first American to win Paris-Nice and the second to ever take the podium at the Tour de France, will also be in town.
Famous Maine Actor and race-car driver, and the creator of the Dempsy Challenge, Patrick Dempsey, will also be at this weekend's race.
Also on hand to start this year's event will be Glenburn's Steve Ismail, who was training for the Dempsy Challenge last year with his wife, Brooke, when they were hit by a truck and thrown from their bikes.
According to NewsCenter Maine, Steve spent 9 months in the hospital with extensive injuries he sustained from the crash. He was recently released and allowed to return back home.
This City says this event has been months in the making and is meant for everyone to enjoy, not just the riders. Spectators are encouraged to gather and cheer for the riders as they make their way along the different routes.
The Gran Fondo Hincapie Series will start from the Bangor Waterfront at 9 AM Saturday morning.
