John Bapst Grad Shares Opening Night On Broadway With ‘Harry Potter’ Actor, Tom Felton
A young actor from Maine and a veteran actor from Great Britain shared the stage and a moment this weekend on Broadway.
We first told you the story of Aidan Close, a former student of John Bapst Memorial High School in Bangor, and the journey he took that ultimately landed him a role in one of the most successful non-musical Broadway plays in history.
People.com says 'Harry Potter and the Cursed Child' boasts "over $430 million total sales and over 3.5 million tickets sold (a distinction that landed it in the Guinness World Records). It's the third longest running play in Broadway history, too."

The 2019 John Bapst graduate made his "Broadway" debut as Scorpious Malfoy in 'The Cursed Child' this Tuesday, November 11th, at the Lyric Theatre in New York.
He took to the stage with iconic Harry Potter film actor, Tom Felton, who embodied the character of Draco Malfoy on the big screen, starring in the movie productions of the Harry Potter series almost 20 years ago.
According to People Magazine, this latest tale from the Harry Potter-verse is set in the future, with a new cast of characters, but also some very familiar names.
"The Tony Award-winning play — penned by Jack Thorne as the eighth story in the Harry Potter series with help from Rowling and the production's director, John Tiffany — picks up 19 years after the action in Deathly Hallows and follows the next generation of wizards as they navigate the latest Hogwarts' mystery."
While this was Close's first time on Broadway, it was also Felton's debut on Broadway making it a particularly emotional moment for both actors-- a moment which happened to be caught on camera.
While Close jumped with delight when it came time for the curtain call, Felton, a bit more subdued, seemed to marinate in the moment, letting himself be overcome with emotion by the weight of it all.
You can see the heartfelt moments unfold in this video.
After a bow or two, Felton is seen as sharing a tender moment with the newcomer who plays his stage son, and the two quietly take in the applause and the energy coming their way.
What a cool moment for a kid who grew up right here in Bangor, Maine.
