There's a lot to love about Maine. Most of things revolve around spring, summer, and fall. Sure, winter has it's time to shine around here, for sure. Especially if you love all the cold weather activities. Me? Not so much. I won't knock people who get outdoors and do all kinds of fun winter stuff, but I'm fine with my couch and my blankie.

We even have those winters sometimes that try and fool us. We're easily sent  into a bit of a lull on years where the snow doesn't really arrive in force until late December or even early January. It's easy to trick yourself into thinking this is going to be an easy year. Typically, Mother Nature proves us wrong in the end.

Winter may not wait around as long this year.

I often use my late October birthday as a bit of an indicator of how early flakes may arrive. For instance, there have been years on my hatch day, where it's balmy, sunny, and 70 degrees. Other years, it's dark, damp, and there's actually a few super early flakes.

However, looking at Accuweather's long range forecast for next month, they're predicting the first flakes will fall in the Bangor area on November, 29th. And possibly the next day as well. I did have a peek at December, and that looked pretty normal. So there probably won't be any surprises there.

Look, I also understand there's no absolute way to tell what the weather's going to be six weeks from now. On the other hand, people seem fine with using the Old Farmer's Almanac as a legit source for weather forecasting. So this apple isn't falling too far from the tree. We'll just have to wait and see how it all shakes out.
