And another stride was made yesterday to securing that our Maine teachers will be better compensated. According to the Portland Press Herald the vote was 6-4 on a bill that will raise our teachers starting salaries to $40,000 per year. this bill was voted on and passed by The Legislature’s Education and Cultural Affairs Committee.

Bear in mind for a person to become a teacher is requires a minimum of a four year degree. More if they wish to specialize or teach above K-12 level.
