Maine’s Temporary Tax Increase Starts Today [POLL]

Starting today the sales tax in Maine rises from 5 to 5.5%.  Tax on meals, lodging and liquor rise from 7 to 8%.

The tax hike supposedly is temporary, taking effect today, October 1st and lasting until June 30th 2015.

Maine lawmakers hope that the tax increase will raise $178 million.
