Most Of Acadia’s Park Loop Road Now Closed To Motorized Traffic
With all the winter weather as of late the folks at Acadia National Park have decided to close the popular Park Loop Road for the season.
The two-mile section of the Park Loop Road from the Sand Beach entrance to the Otter Cliff Road (accessible via Schooner Head Road in Bar Harbor) and the Jordan Pond Area (accessible via Jordan Pond Road in Seal Harbor) remains open.
Park officials remind us that snowmobiles are permitted to use the closed section of the Park Loop Road between Sand Beach and the Otter Cliff Road, as one lane will remain un-plowed.
Hikers, pedestrians, bikers, skaters, boarders, and skiers may also use the Road. Be aware that some official service vehicles may still be using the Road at times, so keep an eye out for them.
The entire Park Loop Road may be closed at times due to the weather. For up to date information go HERE!
