While Spring is typically a time of year when most folks think about puppies and kittens, the fine folks at the SPCA of Hancock County are asking people to remember cats and dogs who might be a little older, and have special needs, like Eleanor and her daughter, Pepper.

Eleanor and Pepper are this week's Pets of the Week, because we're hoping they'll inspire someone to provide a home for both of them.

Mamma Eleanor is just a little slip of a thing. She went a long time with untreated hyperthyroidism. But as little as she may be, she's still got big beauty to share, both inside and out.

This gray and white tabby cat just loves visitors. Our friend Cole, with the SPCA, says she adores being petted.

" She has a lot of love in her though, and she adores visitors. She is happy to greet and accept pets from new friends.

Eleanor's daughter, Pepper, however, is much more nervous about meeting new people.

"Fluffy, black Pepper, hides behind the chair where she feels safest. Pepper is far more timid than her mother and spends most of her days hiding behind the chair, but we can’t blame her since she recently lost her owner and her home."

The folks at the SPCA really want to see this pair go to the right home, with someone who can give them the patience, space and gentle love they need to live out the rest of their days together.

As an added incentive, they're offering a special reduced "Manager's Fee" to anyone willing to keep these two together, and take special care of them both.

"We simply want to see them in the right home," Cole says.

If you're interested in visiting with Eleanor or Pepper, or any of the other animals at the SPCA of Hancock County, you can call the office at 207-667-8088, or email the organization at info@spcahancockcounty.org.

The SPCA is open by appointment Tuesday through Saturday 12 PM – 4 PM.
