Firefighters from multiple towns worked together to contain a blaze at an Orrington auto shop Monday evening.

The fire was reported at River Road, the home of Lav's Auto, around 7 PM.

Aside from being a dealership, Lav's Auto also offers detail and automotive repair on-site, along with being a 24-hour, self-serve gas station.

A portion of the road had shut down for some time but did reopen later that evening.

Aside from the obvious threat of working gas pumps, the garage contained multiple pieces of equipment that ran out of fuel, along with the tanks to store this fuel, making the scene of the fire one that was particularly challenging.

Members of the Penobscot County Sheriff's Office, along with Maine State Police Deputies and the Meain Department of Environmental Protection also responded to the fire to provide aid.

WABI TV 5 reports that there wasn't anyone inside the business when it was on fire.

We're told by people who live in Orrington that folks were stopping by all day on Tuesday, with well-wishes and food in support of the local business. We're also told the owner, Frank Lavigueur, plans to rebuild the shop.

Orrington Fire's Chief, Scott Stewart was on site with the State Fire Marshal on Tuesday afternoon, investigating.
