New Law Allows Hunters To Donate Moose Permits To Veterans

A new bill signed into law Wednesday allows winner hunters to donate their moose permit to veterans.

The new law allows hunters who've been selected for moose permits to donate them to wounded service members and veterans. According to NewsCenter Maine, Gov. Janet Mills signed the bill into law. The bill unanimously passed in the Maine Senate.

It will take effect 90 days after adjournment of the legislative session.

LD 708 allows those who choose to donate their permit to pick a specific veteran, or allow the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries & Wildlife commissioner to randomly draw a name from the list of wounded service members and veterans.

The Moose Permit Lottery Drawing will be held at Cabela's in Scarborough on Saturday, June 8.
