New Dining, Entertainment, Bar, Banquet Hall In the Works In Brewer
Is it crazy to see a new business pop up it in the midst of a pandemic? The new owners of a popular dining spot don't have any qualms about it.
Jester's and City Side Restaurant, formerly located in the North Brewer Shopping Plaza, closed its doors in July but, it looks like new life is being brought to this historic space.
Mad Kat and Company Bar and Grill has been in the process of renovating the old Jesters/City Side location since August and are planning to bring family dining, entertainment, and large gathering options back to this Brewer location.
The business is being started by current Brewer business owners Steve and Kat Markwith, who also have Even Keel Tax and Mad Kat DJ Services as businesses, along with another couple, Neil and Angela Guay.
Speaking with the Markwiths, the former business that occupied their new space was where the couple met each other and where they met the other couple that will have joined them on this business venture.
The sign on the door also includes the tagline "Friends meet and become family," which reflects how the two couples met in that space and how they would like their new business to be seen- as a place where people come together and meet new friends or get together with the old friends.
The establishment will have three separate dining spaces, one dedicated to a quieter family dining experience, another space dedicated to a livelier area which will include a bar and a stage, as well as a third room that for larger crowds to accommodate for business meetings or wedding receptions.
The Markwiths believe the business will have 20-25 employees between the kitchen, dining and bar staff.
You can also expect a focus on entertainment with Mad Kat and Company. The business is being fitted with a sound system a DJ booth, lighting, dance floor and stage area to welcome smaller, local acts as well as karaoke and other fun things.
Food will focus on classic American cuisine.
The owners are putting a lot of work right now into renovating and upgrading the space to include upgrades to what you won't see (such as wiring and kitchen stuff) to what you will see (including tearing down walls to open up the space, new fixtures).
The business is hoping to open up towards the end of 2020.
