Paradis In Brewer Will Shut Down Temporarily At End Of Month To Change Hands
A popular Brewer supermarket will shut down, temporarily, at the end of the month as it gets ready for a new-ish owner.
For many years, the store has been run by Carl Pelletier. But he's getting ready to retire soon. So a new owner is getting ready to take over. Soon, the store will be solely owned by Dawn Daigle, who up until this point has jointly owned it with 9 other members of the Paradis Shop N Save company.
Daigle, who is the current V.P. of the Paradis Company, says the other Paradis stores in Northern Maine were sold to Hannaford at the beginning of April. But there was an option to keep the Brewer store in the family, so she jumped at the opportunity and is excited about the challenge of running it.
Paradis Shop N Save Supermarket, at 397 North Main Street in Brewer will close for just a few days, from April 22nd at 3 PM to April 26th at 7 AM.
Daigle says the temporary closure is necessary to change over a point-of-sale program, to work on some IT issues, and to do a deep cleaning of the shop.
She says customers shouldn't notice too many other changes to the store. Daugle says Pelletier will stay on part-time to help in the transition, while she works from home in Northern Maine for part of the week, and travels to Brewer on the other days.
Pelletier, who started in the meat department a couple of decades ago, worked his way up to Store Manager of Paradis Shop N Save years ago and has been running the shop since. He plans to retire, once the transition is complete.
