Old Town To Light Kayak Tree & Host Festival Of Lights Parade
The City of Old Town will be hosting its 5th Annual Kayak Tree Lighting and Festival of Lights Parade at the end of the month.
The Kayak Tree Lighting is a fairly new tradition in the Old Town area. Old Town's Director of Economic & Community Development, EJ Roach, says it all started a few years back...
"We will have the lighting of the Kayak tree, a bonfire, hot chocolate... a visit from Santa, and a fireworks display. Each year we have added a little more to the festivities. "
This year's addition of a Festival Of Lights Parade is courtesy of the Old Town Elks Lodge.
The events are scheduled to take place Saturday, November 26th.
According to the City of Old Town Facebook Page, the parade will begin at 5:30 at the Old Town Elks Lodge and end at Riverfront Park at 6:45 with the lighting of the Kayak Tree.
After the parade, folks can enjoy a bit of Musical Bingo at 7:00 PM. The fireworks display will start at 7:45 PM.
"If you are part of an organization that would like to become more involved in this event please contact us. You can email eroach@old-town.org or call 827-3965 for more information."
Mark your calendars to head to Old Town to check out Old Town's spin on traditional holiday tree lighting.
