There's no doubt about the impact the band Queen has had and seems to keep having on rock 'n roll and pop culture.

Who else has ever had command of so many people at one time as charismatic frontman, Freddie Mercury?

From the band's debut in the '70s, to its resurgence in the '90s thanks to Wayne's World, and then its reintroduction to new audiences in 2018 with the biopic "Bohemian Rhapsody" movie.

Even this past weekend, the band's iconic guitar player, Brian May, appeared playing a ripping solo for newcomer Benson Boone as he performed one of their legendary tunes at the famed Coachella 2025 Music Festival.

For any of us who were unlucky enough to have never seen Queen live in concert before Mercury's passing in November of 1991, the experience of hearing those beloved songs performed on a stage in front of us is something we'll never be able to experience in its original splendor.

While the remaining members of Queen still tour, with a new frontman they discovered from American Idol in 2009, Adam Lambert, they have yet to make it up to Bangor, Maine.

Queen fans will, however, have a chance to experience the fun of singing along to their favorites when the internationally renowned Queen Tribute Band "One Night Of Queen" takes to the stage at the Cross Insurance Center on Thursday, April 24.

Singer Gary Mullen, backed by The Works, transforms themselves into the embodiment of Queen for a 2-hour action-packed set of all of the band's best-loved hits.

We had a chance to speak with Mullen, who has gotten a nod of approval from original band member Brian May himself, to ask him just how he got started singing as Freddie Mercury and how he and the works have managed to turn this life in tribute to a 25 year spanning career.
