Open Farm Day Is This Weekend

Here in the Bangor area we are very lucky because Treworgy Farm in Levant has open farm day pretty much everyday. Still summer is a great time for a drive and lots of the farms participating in this year's open farm event are down on our beautiful Maine coast from Waldoboro to North Haven and Lamoine to Columbia Falls. There are also a bunch down Augusta way and near Portland so your options are limitless.
According to Get Real Maine this 30th annual Open Farm Day is a chance for a family adventure where all of you can learn about the business of Maine's agriculture. These farms that open their doors to everyone on the fourth Sunday in July every year are committed to ensuring the sustainability of agriculture. It is also their chance to give back to the community that supports them. With something for every family member depending where you go you'll find demonstrations, displays, farm-raised products for sale and animals and crops to experience. Activities include barn and field tours, milking, hay rides, nature trails, beautiful scenery, and samples for tasting and refreshments.
