The Bangor Drive-In is opening for the season soon. The opening weekend festivities features some rock n' roll.

The Bangor Drive-In has announced their opening date. According to a Facebook announcement earlier this month, the season opening date is set for May 21. A part of the opening weekend line-up is a virtual concert by Bon Jovi.

Movie screenings include "Scoob!," "Tom and Jerry," "Godzilla vs. Kong," and "Spiral."

Last summer, with every concert on the schedule at the Darling's Waterfront Pavilion postponed or canceled due to COVID, the drive-in became an unlikely music venue. The theater hosted three virtual concerts featuring Garth BrooksBlake Shelton, and Metallica.

The Bangor Drive-In, located on Hammond Street in Hermon, reopened in 2015 after a nearly 30-year hiatus. The Drive-In initially opened on June 7, 1950, and closed in 1985 after a thirty-five year run.
