Penobscot Narrows Bridge Remains Closed

As of this writing, 10:05am, Monday, the Penobscot Narrows Bridge, the span that carries Route 1 traffic between Prospect and Verona, remains closed.

Yesterday morning as the temperatures increased, ice began to fall from the cables high above the bridge damaging at least four cars significantly.  No injuries were reported.

The Maine Department of Transportation will continue to assess the situation today and we'll let you know both here and on air when the bridge opens.
