Postal Carriers Need Your Help To ‘Stamp Out Hunger’ This Weekend
What's an easier way to help feed those in need by dropping off food at a local food drive? How about having someone come right to your door to pick it up directly?
That's what will happen this weekend, and United States Postal Service Postal Carriers around the nation, and right here in our state, take part in the national "Stamp Out Hunger" campaign.

You might have noticed in the past week or so, that this little informational flyer made its way into your mailbox.
If you stopped to read it, then it's likely that you already know what to do.
If it got lost in the mail pile, here's the gist of what's going to happen, and how you can help.
According to the USPS website, the "Stamp Out Hunger" campaign takes place every year, on the second Saturday in May.
"To donate, just place a box or can of non-perishable food next to your mailbox before your letter carrier delivers mail on the second Saturday in May. The carrier will do the rest. The food is sorted, and delivered to an area food bank or pantry, where it is available for needy families."
The site says that letter carriers in more than 10,000 cities and towns across America, from nearly 1,500 branches in 50 states take part in the food drive. They say it is the largest one-day food drive in the nation!
You can easily be a part of doing good in your neighborhood by leaving out a couple of cans. Your postal carrier will add that to the nearly one BILLION pounds of food the "Stamp Out Hunger" campaign has collected in the last 25 years.
"Carriers collect non-perishable food donations left by mailboxes and in post offices and deliver them to local community food banks, pantries and shelters. "
Food insecurity is a problem plaguing almost every community in the nation. This is an easy way to make a big difference with a small donation.
Remember this weekend to help Stamp Out Hunger by leaving your donation for your postal carrier to pick up.
