TBT – Happy Birthday Bugs Bunny, You’re Why I Know Opera

Today is Bugs Bunny's birthday. Patterned after Clark Gable when his creator's inspiration saw the scene from "It Happened One Night" where Gable, munching on a carrot, is sitting on a stoop.  Created in 1940 this wild hare had an influence on anyone who grew up in the 60's. thanks to TV becoming common place in most households.

And I think the most lasting effect that Loony Tunes had on the folks of my generation was the love? maybe, but definitely recognition of several Opera classics. Above is "the Marriage of Figaro"   The only downside I can see if you can call it that is that sometimes when I am listening to the Bangor Symphony Orchestra in my head I am seeing Bugs Bunny, that's why I am smiling.
