Take a little trip up the old winding wooden stairwell and check out a spectacular panoramic view of Bangor on this beautiful day!

The Thomas Hill Standpipe on Jackson Street in Bangor will open for TODAY this Wednesday, May 22nd, between 3 and 6 p.m.  There is NO CHARGE!  Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.

The old Standpipe, built back in 1897 holds 1.75 million gallons of water that is drawn from Flood's Pond in Otis, and the building that houses the actual water tank is 110 feet high.  The Bangor Water District features these tours four times a year.

It's worth the trip up to see, although if you tire easily or have a hard time with stairs you may want to stay on the ground  Check out this VIDEO that we took a few winters ago!
