It's been going on for over one hundred years; The Carmel Days Celebration has become a sure sign of fall in Eastern Maine. And this year's event promises to be no exception!

Like many events during 2020, the Carmel Days Celebration had to be cancelled last year, as the Covid-19 pandemic took hold.

But Carmel's Town Manager, Kevin Howell, says there are no plans to cancel or postpone this year, as it's been turned into an entirely outdoor event.

Carmel Days is scheduled for Saturday October 2nd.

"The celebration will kick off at 11AM with a large parade along Route 2, through the village of Carmel, ending at the Carmel Recreation Complex, where the festival activities will take place that day."

Howell says there will be vendors, food, games, live music from Fox Roxx, face-painting, and a petting zoo. There will even be giant bubble balls and a climbing wall for folks to have fun with.

The Great Maine Lumberjacks Show will be putting on three performances during the afternoon, at 1PM, 2:30PM and 4PM.

In the evening, around 5PM, a DJ will take over and host a giant dance party for the town.

The entire Carmel Days will wrap up with an impressive Fire Works Display right at the Rec Center.

There will be portable toilets and hand sanitization stations set up, and plenty of space to social distance.

The event is free to attend and open to the public.

Howell says organizers from the Rec. Department are looking for volunteers to help putting on some of the games for the kids. Anyone with some extra time to spare between noon and 4 that day are asked to contact the Town Manager at 848-3361.
