Everyone wants to help dogs and cats without a home, right?

Gather up those empty Bud Light cans and donate them to keep a couple of our area animals shelters open.

Two Downeast animal shelters will be holding a bottle drive this Saturday, January 30th.  The money from returnable bottles and cans are used for all sorts of expenses, from things like keeping the lights on to kitty litter. Dogs and cats, especially those without a home, hold a very special place in our hearts, and even though you may not currently have room in your household for another pet, you can still help out by donating your returnable bottles and cans.

The Ark Animal Shelter in Cherryfield will hold their bottle drive and also a bake sale tomorrow between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m.  They'll be in the parking lots of both the Sullivan Recreation Center on Route 1 and the Franklin Vets Club on the Blackwoods Road/Card's Crossing.  If you have a large amount of bottles and cans or just can't make it, give them a call at 565-2214, and they'll come pick them up. The Dunbar Store in Sullivan also has something special going on for The Ark.

Meanwhile, the SPCA of Hancock County on the Bar Harbor Road in Trenton are holding their monthly Save Our Shelter Bottle Drive tomorrow as well between 8 and 5. You can either drop off your returnables there or send them a Facebook message and they'll come to your place to pick them up.
