"Once I put my military uniform on, that is what takes precedence over my life," said Marina "Rosie" Gray, a native of Mt. Desert Island and Trenton. "I know that the military comes first and it always will."

There is absolutely no doubt that our current Miss Maine USA kicks some serious ass!

The recent ARTICLE posted by the U.S. Army talks of how Gray left home and set out on her own at the young age of 16. She would graduate high school in three years, and then enlist in the military at age 17.  Her military pay along with what she received as a waitress helped pay her tuition at the University of Maine in Orono, where she would graduate with a degree in Communications.

"I felt when I was younger that I wouldn't be able to achieve what I wanted because I came from a low income family," said Gray in the article. "I didn't think my life would be as fruitful as it has been, but I just kept fighting for a better life."

Marina Gray has been a part of the Maine Army National Guard for five years now, and spends one weekend a month as a petroleum supply specialist with the 133rd Engineer Battalion that is based in Brunswick.

This year marks the 67th Miss USA Pageant, and of course the winner will go on to represent us in the Miss Universe Pageant.  We wish Marina Gray the best of luck in the pageant and thank her very much for her service to our country!
