Agencies are spending the day today searching for a Maine man who set out to dig clams off Clark Island early last night in the middle of the blizzard, and never returned.

According to a U.S. Coast Guard news release, 35 year-old Paul Brenner left shore from the Long Cove Boat Ramp in a 16-foot skiff around 5 yesterday afternoon, his destination was the shore of Clark Island.

A skiff matching the one he set out in was found unmanned off Long Cove last night.

The news release states that "A Coast Guard Station Rockland 47-foot boat crew searched overnight, and a Coast Guard Station Boothbay Harbor boat crew is joining the search today. Helicopter crews from Coast Guard Air Station Cape Cod are searching by air."

Knox County Sheriff's Office personnel are conducting patrols on foot and those from the Maine Marine Patrol are assisting with searches in the water.
